3D Creative Business is Booming on the Back of Tourist Attractions
Wellington company 3D Creative’s commitment to quality is proving a winning
approach with two of it’s projects in this year’s BeST Design Awards, a national
award programme of the Design Institute of New Zealand (DINZ) that recognizes
and celebrates New Zealand’s best graphic, product and spatial design.
3D Creative’s director Craig Turvey is delighted to have both their multimillion
dollar Te Puia (New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute) and Hukawai Glacier
Centre projects recognised by the DINZ, and sees the awards as a feather in the
cap of the 3D Creative team, who’ve had a busy and extremely successful year.
“The Te Puia project, which includes the 25 hectare bush-clad geothermal valley,
attracts, I’m told, 80 percent of tourists visiting New Zealand. The Hukawai
Glacier Centre in Franz Josef features an eight metre high ice-climbing wall, the
only one of its kind in the Southern hemisphere.
It’s really satisfying to receive kudos from the Design Institute for not just one, but
two of our projects”, said Turvey.
“3D Creative has consistently aimed to produce fresh, innovative designs. We
are all very proud of the work we are doing and it’s gratifying to be recognised
publicly in this way”.
The company has an impeccable track record when it comes to creating
beautifully crafted and technologically advanced exhibitions, installations and
interactive centres. This year alone they have undertaken several demanding
projects, including the new Reserve Bank Museum, GNS Science’s touring
exhibition of New Zealand fossils (Dead Precious!) and the New Zealand Centre
for Conservation Medicine at the Auckland Zoo, recently opened by the Prime
Minister.
Craig Turvey was one of the original members of the New Zealand Museum Te
Papa Tongarewa creative team before founding his highly successful company
ten years ago.
Since its inception, 3D Creative has undertaken over 300 design projects across
New Zealand. They have contracted some of Wellington’s leading audiovisual,
model-making, lighting and joinery companies to achieve the international
standards being delivered.
As well as technologically demanding projects, 3D Creative has also been
involved with the design of several popular restaurants including award-winning,
French-inspired Café Cecile in Masterton, and was the creative force behind the
Kiwi and Kids Zone gallery at northern Wairarapa’s Mt Bruce Wildlife Centre.
