Te Puia provides a world-class experience that takes into consideration and builds on contemporary museum and exhibit strategies.
The Interpretive strategy was to enable people to perceive and appreciate the unique power and significance of Te Puia through experiences that communicate the stories.
The redeveloped NZ Maori Arts and Crafts Institute in Rotorua features several new interpretive elements - Including the walk thru theatre experience Nga Waru pu Manawa, the Te Whare Tapere interpretation gallery, and approx 5 km of walking track thru the bush clad geothermal valley.
The design solution involves leading-edge technologies unique in New Zealand and presented in a way that inspires visitors to explore the valley and to better appreciate Maori culture. The visitor sees and appreciates the value of Maori arts and crafts In the walk-thru interpreted the weaving school, the carving school and the gallery and retail spaces. Lumen Digital were commissioned by 3D to achieve the leading edge Audiovisual interactives.
