NZCCM Public Gallery
Set in the grounds of the Auckland Zoo, the purpose built visitor centre is the first of its type in the world.
The design concept was developed around the theme of transparency - from being able to ‘see-thru' the viewing windows of the Laboratory, Surgery and Treatment room. The concept can also be used to illuminate the hidden ‘connections' between humans, animals and the environment.
The public gallery space is a visual extension of the laboratory, surgery and treatment room and will reflect their aesthetic of being clean, bright, transparent and surgically precise.
Displays reflect the precision of surgical materials; microscope slides, glass, whiteness and stainless steel componentry.
